How teachers should review AI-assisted marking
Teacher review should concentrate on the points where automated systems are most likely to miss legitimate evidence or overstate certainty.
Sample by risk
- Alternative methods
- Long algebraic or geometric reasoning
- Diagrams and constructions
- Faint or overwritten responses
- Borderline mark totals and unexpected zeros
Compare the evidence
Keep the source page, authorised mark scheme and generated rationale visible. Correct both the awarded mark and the explanation when they disagree.
Record disagreements
A disagreement log by question type is more useful than anecdotal confidence. It can reveal systematic transcription, method-recognition or reconciliation problems.
