Worked example

A transparent example of a marking review

This constructed example explains presentation and review. It is not a real user result, endorsement or benchmark sample.

The evidence

For the equation 4x + 3 = 19, the demonstration working shows 4x = 16 and x = 4. Both inverse operations are visible and the final answer checks in the original equation.

The rationale

  • The subtraction of 3 is applied consistently.
  • The division by 4 is correct.
  • Substitution gives 4(4) + 3 = 19.

The review boundary

If the first line had been faint enough to read as 4x − 3, the result should be flagged for inspection. A confident rationale cannot repair uncertain source recognition.
